Clown Orchid (Caladenia Roei)

Terrestrial, perenial herb to 20cm's high with a tall scape to 30cms. Often found in clumps. Inflorescence can have 1-2 smallish flowers of 3cm x 4cm. Leaf and scape pale green liberally covered in grey hairs. Flower is yellow to green with red stripe down the centre of the sepals and petals. Labellum is very wide with a narrow band of of deep maroon calli.
Flowering usually starts around July
Where to find it
This orchid's territory roughly translates to the wheatbelt of WA, it is very common within this area. Draw a line from slightly north of Geraldton to Albany, across to Esperance, north to Kalgoorlie and then angled across to Geraldton again and that about gets it.
At the base and within a 30km radis of Wave Rock.

July - November
