Travel with Cardwell Tours and experience everything Wave Rock has to offer, including some or all of the following:
East of Hyden you will find Wave Rock, a giant surf like landform of multicoloured granite, appearing as if it’s about the crash in to the ground below. Wave Rock is over 2,700 million years old.
Another rocky outcrop in the area, named because of it’s resemblance of a hippopotamus yawning.
View the Aboriginal artwork at ‘The Humps,’ a large granite formation.
Hear the Aboriginal legend of Mulka and view the imprints of his hands which can still be seen in the cave today.
Wildlife Park, Antique Lace Collection and the Minature Soldiers Museum
If time permits wander through the Wave Rock Wildlife Park where you can enjoy time seeing kangaroos, emus, wallabies, wombats, koalas, lizards and a wide range of birds. Alternatively view the antique lace collection, dating back to the 1600’s. Hand and machine made lace products are housed in beautiful hand crafted cabinets or the Miniature Soldier Museum. This amazing collection of over 10,000 handmade pieces are displayed in series of the great wars. See soldiers at war in jungles and deserts and the six metre long display of the 1953 Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
Stop to view wildflowers throughout the tour whilst they are in season. Varieties include the orange flame grevillea, orchids, wattles and everlastings.
